Education & Research

Following my interests in technology and business, my academic journey began with a B.B.A. in Computer Information Systems & Accounting (West Texas A&M, 2008) and a M.S. in Information Systems (Dakota State University, 2011, GPA 3.80). I am currently a Ph.D. candidate in Information Systems at Dakota State University.


Professional Journey

Co‑Founder & Chief Technology Officer – Invasive Removal (now LandWright)

2024 - Present, Remote (Ames, IA)
I lead the technology strategy for a startup that creates autonomous, controllable robots for land‑conservation work and software platforms geared for responsible land stewardship. Highlights include:

  • Designing a cloud‑native platform that merges sensor data, GIS, and AI for data‑driven stewardship.
  • Building BirdBox, a bioacoustic recorder that leverages custom neural networks to detect and classify bird species in real time.
  • Pioneering on‑device LLM deployment and RAG pipelines that provide dynamic, context‑aware decision support for field crews.

Software Engineer – Impulse Creative

2022 - 2024, Remote (Babcock Ranch, FL)
I turned product ideas into four market‑ready SaaS solutions – HubLMS Pro/Enterprise, Cohortium, and RocketPRM – while also constructing the internal IT and CI/CD infrastructure that kept our releases fast and reliable.

Chief Software Engineer & Founder – West Texas Decision Systems, Inc.

2020 - 2022, 2024 - Present, Amarillo, TX
Running my own consultancy, I deliver end‑to‑end software for a variety of clients: mobile apps, web platforms, RESTful services, MLOps pipelines, and bespoke AI tools. My role spans full‑stack development, cloud architecture, and strategic tech advising.

Systems Analyst III – Amarillo College

2010 - 2014, Amarillo, TX
I kept the college’s core information systems humming, wrote automation scripts that trimmed manual workloads, and managed UniData, MSSQL, and MySQL environments with robust ETL pipelines.

Early Career – West Texas A&M University

2008 - 2010, Canyon, TX
From Programmer I to Support Specialist, I maintained the Datatel (now Ellucian) Colleague system, administered a dozen+ servers, and built custom code that streamlined departmental workflows.


Teaching & Mentorship in Technology

From 2014 - 2020 I served as Instructor & Coordinator for the Computer Information Systems program at Amarillo College. I taught programming fundamentals, designed hands‑on labs that mirrored industry practices, and guided dozens of students from the classroom to real‑world software projects. My teaching philosophy centers on relevance – students learn the “why” behind the code, and I continually bring current industry challenges into the syllabus.

  • Fine‑tuning domain‑specific LLMs for on‑device inference, reducing latency and preserving privacy.
  • RAG pipelines that automatically pull the latest scientific literature into field‑ready applications.
  • Bioacoustic monitoring – building neural classifiers that help conservationists track avian biodiversity without invasive surveys.
  • Autonomous robotics – integrating perception, planning, and actuation to monitor and protect vulnerable ecosystems.

Community Involvement

I’m an active FIRST Robotics Competition volunteer in the Amarillo district. Guiding young engineers and exposing them to real‑world programming challenges is a rewarding way to give back and keep the pipeline of future technologists strong.
